Exchange Server Alternative
If you are looking for an alternative to running your own Exchange server, when it comes to your company’s email and file sharing solutions there are so many options out there that it’s hard to make an informed decision.
Most large companies already have an IT department or an outsourced IT function, so there is lots of expert advice on hand to evaluate the alternatives but if you work in a small or medium sized business it’s often a more difficult decision.
In very general terms, the options you choose depend on the size of your company. Within each of these general alternatives there are many different companies offering these services but deciding on the general type of requirement is the obvious place to start. You’ll see several options for further reading on this site based on the categories and choices below:
- Large enterprises can manage and run their own Exchange Server or equivalent, or they can use a dedicated exchange server that is hosted by a third party provider.
- Anywhere from small to mid sized firms can use a shared exchange server hosting – this is a great start for a small to mid sized business because of the easy scaleability and cost per user model. These providers often also offer the dedicated exchange option so you can easily upgrade.
- Individuals or small businesses who want to save money on hosting can use the Easy-Email solution for email synchronization and aggregation along with web based file sharing. This works out considerably less expensive than any of the other options.
- For small to mid-sized companies there are other options from a variety of companies in the exchange server alternatives section.
